Job Description |
Program Assistant (Graduate Success Partner - GSP) Note: This position is only open to graduate students. Undergraduates will not be considered. A cover letter is required. See below for more information. Job Description: The Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives (OAMI) creates seamless pathways to college success through programming for academic enrichment, campus engagement, leadership development, and networking opportunities. The Graduate Success Partner (GSP) position works with undergraduate participants of OAMI’s SuccessConnects program to provide mentorship and support to advance student success. This includes the execution of responsibilities that include the following: Provide individual and small group coaching to 3rd and 4th year undergraduates based on major/career focus area to identify goals and strategies to achieve them. Develop workshops and curricular scope that meet the specific needs of the small groups by addressing their interest areas, challenges, and knowledge acquisition for information to support their growth and achievements. Coordinate opportunities to build community and a supportive network of scholars. Identify and coordinate resources, experiential opportunities, and resource connections to enhance student awareness and preparation for collegiate and post-baccalaureate opportunities. Coordinate collaborations with campus resources that support student success. Maintain database on student participation. Attendance at weekly staff meetings on Thursdays from 4 pm-5 pm is required. Participation in other OAMI programming as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Approximately 6 - 8 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends. Length of Appointment: Fall Term 2025 - Winter Term 2026: 8/19/25 - 5/1/26 |

Job Requirements |
We are primarily seeking applicants studying the following: Computer Science, Information Systems, or Medicine. Required Qualifications: Graduate student in Ph.D., Master’s, or professional degree program (e.g., law, medicine) at the University of Michigan. Must be graduating in or after May 2026. Experience in mentoring undergraduate students, student development, academic enrichment, and program development. Proven dedication to fostering student success, with experience supporting students from a wide range of backgrounds and identities. Possess functional knowledge of University of Michigan departments, programs, and resources. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Basic evaluation and assessment skillset. Available to attend/work: Weekly staff meetings on Thursdays from 4 pm to 5 pm. In-person training from 8/19/25 - 8/21/25. The SuccessConnects Kickoff Welcome Event from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, 8/28/25.
