As home to one of the most storied college athletics traditions and the finest archive of intercollegiate athletics in the country, the Bentley Historical Library is committed to acquiring, preserving, and making accessible the documents that tell the story of Michigan sports. This internship is focused on work to further the preservation of the library’s born-digital collections as they relate to the University of Michigan’s Athletics department. The intern will be embedded in the work of the Curation Team and University History Group, which will include a focus on: - Creating and executing a plan to migrate content off of removable media.
Supervising the Peikert Undergraduate Fellow, who will assist in the removable media project. Processing analog and digital collections. Conducting research in the archives related to significant moments in the history of University of Michigan Athletics. Assisting the Archivist for Athletics with reference requests and field work. Contributing to the Bentley Historical Library’s Collections Magazine and social media accounts. Ability to work 20 - 40 hours per week.
