Job Description

The Computer & Video Game Archive (CVGA) is seeking one Student Assistants for the Winter 2025 term to support the daily operations of the archive for the following shifts:

  • Mondays: 5:30 PM – 8:15 PM
  • Wednesdays: 4:30 PM – 8:15 PM

 

This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a wide range of video games, consoles, and library services in a dynamic and engaging environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting visitors with inquiries and circulating games.
  • Test and maintain donated games and equipment to ensure functionality and preservation.
  • Tech support and troubleshoot older game systems and equipment as needed.
  • Provide support during class sessions held in the CVGA, including setup and troubleshooting.

Learn the inner workings of a library special collection
Develop skills in restoring both modern and vintage computers and consoles
Enhance your knowledge of the video game and media industry

Application Instructions:
Applicants must be available for the following shifts:

  • Mondays: 5:30 PM – 8:15 PM
  • Wednesdays: 4:30 PM – 8:15 PM

There may also be an opportunity for additional hours, which we can discuss in further detail.  

The CVGA hours of operation for the Winter 2025 term are as follows:

  • Monday – Thursday: 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm
  • Friday: 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to support and articulate the CVGA’s mission.
  • Ability to communicate with larger groups, such as during tours.
  • Attention to detail.
Hourly Rate $16.00/hour
Hours 6.0 to 11.0 hours per week
