Position Summary: Responsible for the planning and organization of the Pittsfield Township Parks and Recreation Department’s Montibeller Park Day Camp program creating, implementing and supervising a safe and fun camp with youth ages 5-12. Essential Job Functions: An employee in this position may be called upon to perform including but not limited to any or all of the following essential functions. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. • Assist supervisor with daily camp activities, including but not limited to games, crafts, sports, swimming • Develop a working relationship and communication with Camp Supervisor, Junior Counselors, and Campers. • Monitor children’s safety. • Report all incidents and accidents to the camp supervisor and complete appropriate paperwork. • Be prepared to be in the water during swim time to provide a safe and fun environment. • Establish a relationship with children and keep appropriate paperwork regarding special needs. • Effectively evaluate camp activities and complete survey at end of season • Be responsible, mature and capable of enforcing rules in a firm, consistent and tactful manner. • Arrive promptly for scheduled shifts and assist in coordinating and conducting activities as assigned by your supervisors. • Be enthusiastic and encourage children in all activities. Reinforce cooperation and the buddy system at all times. Respond to the children in a way that builds self-esteem. • Develop a positive relationship with the children and their parents/guardian. Be a role model for the children. • Be responsible for your assigned group of children. Know where every child in your group is at all times. • Attend staff meetings. Contribute to improving the quality of camp. Attend all training and orientation programs as required. • Report to your supervisor any significant behavior problems or any unusual happenings among the children. • Complete all other duties as assigned by director/supervisor |
