Job Description: This job is for current University of Michigan undergraduates only. The Nam Center for Korean Studies seeks undergraduate students to participate as “Cultural Liaisons” in a study abroad program for students from Gyeonggi Province, Korea, sponsored by LS&A and offered jointly by the Nam Center and the English Language Institute (ELI). Liaisons will participate as peer mentors and guides for the students under the Youth Ladder Program, enrolled in a three week-long study abroad course in Ann Arbor. Liaisons will function as study assistants, supporting the formal in-class instruction at the ELI in after-class study halls and practice clinics, in-class projects, and act as guides and group leaders for outside-classroom cultural experiences around Ann Arbor and eastern Michigan. Each Liaison will be responsible for a group of three students from Korea and will lead them in activities independently as well as part of the larger group. This program is scheduled from Monday, July 7, 2025 to Friday, August 1, 2025. Schedule: Candidates should be available at all of the following days and times during the program period. - Activities will take place five days a week: Mondays-Thursdays 2-5 pm, Fridays 8 am-5 pm (approximately)
- A 2-hour paid training meeting will be required before the start of the program date. This will be scheduled according to availability.
- A program orientation during the first week of the program (July 8-12), which includes lunch, from 1-3 pm (to be scheduled in mid-April).
