Accepting this position does not preclude the applicant from seeking other employment or internships during summer 2026, as long as they can continue working in this position. Schedule is flexible; to be determined with supervisor upon hiring; hours must be worked between 9am and 5 pm Monday through Friday. Description This position will run from approximately May 2025 to August 2026, and is located within the Deep Blue Repository and Research Data Services (DBRRDS) department of the University Library (https://www.lib.umich.edu/about-us/our-divisions-and-departments/michigan-publishing/deep-blue-repository-and-research-data). The Student Assistant will provide routine support to the operations of the Deep Blue Data and Documents repository (https://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/data), the Library’s repository for research data produced by researchers at the University of Michigan, and Deep Blue Documents (https://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/documents), the institution’s repository for publications, presentations, and other research outputs. In addition to Deep Blue Data, DBRRDS (in partnership with other areas of the library) also provides support for research data management planning, data organization and management, metadata and documentation, and data sharing/publication/preservation more generally. Responsibilities: Performing initial triage of requests in our ticketing system; Reviewing datasets for routine metadata remediation, including adding links to related publications located in Deep Blue Documents; Performing weekly platform maintenance tasks; Reviewing platform functionality following software upgrades; Organizing deposits into relevant collections; Proofreading documentation; And other duties as assigned.
