Job Summary:

The University of Michigan School of Information is looking for research assistants to support doctoral students Qingyi Wang and Jingyi Qiu in conducting replication analysis for ongoing projects. Responsibilities include verifying computational reproducibility, identifying coding errors, and creating structured replication packages. You have programming skills in Stata or Python, knowledge of statistical analysis methods, and an interest in social science research.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Run provided scripts to verify computational reproducibility and compare outputs with the original results.

  • Detect and address coding errors or data irregularities.

  • Communicate findings and issues with the research team.

  • Create and organize a well-structured and accessible replication package for future researchers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or master's degree program.

  • Proficient in using Stata or Python: have applied the tools in at least two projects or completed a full-semester course that taught the tool.  

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis methods: have taken at least an introductory statistics class, such as STATS 250 or equivalent.

  • Commitment to seeing tasks through to completion, even when faced with challenges or obstacles.

  • Have demonstrated interest in economics, psychology, or other quantitative social science academic research.
