The University Mentorship Program is a non-residential learning community designed to provide an opportunity for new first-year students to connect with peer mentors who are knowledgeable about the University in order to ease the transition from high school to college. Mentorship helps to make the University a smaller place by providing a supportive community and connecting participants to valuable resources. Our mentoring relationships are complemented by a series of skill building activities, social events and special opportunities to add balance and support to the first-year college student experience. There are approximately 460 mentees, 42 Peer Mentors, and 6 Mentorship Program Student Coordinators involved in the program (these numbers vary from year to year). Responsibilities - Establish communication with mentees before classes begin
- Meet with assigned mentees regularly (at least once per month)—providing guidance and support, answering questions, and connecting mentees with campus resources; document all meetings
- Maintain regular communication with mentees throughout the Fall term.
- Plan with assigned Mentorship Program Student Coordinators at least 2 events or programs for your small group
- Attend Peer Mentor training early Fall term
- Communicate with assigned Mentorship Program Student Coordinator
