Marquee Arts is the nonprofit organization that operates the historic Michigan and State Theaters in downtown Ann Arbor. With a mission to inspire, educate, entertain, and build community through the power of cinema and the performing arts, Marquee Arts presents a robust slate of first-run, international, documentary, classic, and independent films, along with live events, educational programming, and community engagement initiatives. Summary: Marquee Arts is seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial summer intern to join our Marketing and Sales Division. This internship will focus on the development, execution, and optimization of a comprehensive sales and marketing structure for on-screen advertisements across our six film screens. Working directly with the Director of Marketing and cross-departmentally with Programming and Development, the intern will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the organization’s earned revenue strategy. Research & Strategy Development - Conduct market research and competitive analysis on cinema advertising models used by other nonprofit and for-profit theaters.
- Identify potential advertisers and community partners that align with the mission and values of Marquee Arts.
- Develop a compelling advertising pitch deck and rate card for use in sales outreach.
Sales & Relationship Management - Create a targeted outreach plan and initiate contact with potential advertisers (local businesses, event promoters, arts organizations, etc.).
- Build and maintain a CRM or database of leads, contacts, contracts, and campaign status.
- Serve as a liaison between Marquee Arts and advertisers to ensure timely delivery of assets and fulfillment of contracts.
Execution & Campaign Management - Coordinate the scheduling and delivery of approved advertisements across six screens at the Michigan and State Theaters.
- Monitor and evaluate campaign performance, and recommend improvements as needed.
- Ensure that all advertisements meet brand guidelines and technical specifications.
Collaboration & Communication - Work closely with the Programming, Marketing, and Front of House teams to ensure seamless integration of ad content into film presentations.
- Provide regular progress updates to the Director of Marketing and contribute to end-of-summer reporting.
Work Environment The work is primarily indoors within a theater building(s) and may have some exposure to fumes, odor, dust, variant temperatures, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
