Position Summary Religious, Secular and Spiritual Life (RSS) at U-M is seeking a highly motivated and capable graduate student to serve as the primary researcher for an exciting new grant project: "Mapping A Multi-faith Journey: A Historical Exploration of Religious Diversity at the University of Michigan." This project aims to trace the transformation of religious and spiritual life at the university, highlighting critical historical developments and policy shifts that have fostered religious diversity, dialogue, and interfaith engagement on campus. The primary deliverable will be an interactive timeline that showcases important stories and events, contextualizing the challenges and successes that shaped the religious landscape at U-M. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive archival research, particularly at the Bentley Historical Library, to identify relevant documents, photographs, and historical data and events. Collaborate on ongoing projects to leverage existing resources and findings. Conduct oral history interviews with campus partners, community members, and religious leaders, as needed, to ensure that diverse voices and perspectives are accurately represented and documented. Synthesize archival and oral history findings to identify significant dates, policies, and partnerships that contributed to the diversification of campus religious life.
