Job Description

The LSA Office of Student Recruitment seeks a diverse team of LSA Student Ambassadors to engage with prospective and admitted students. Ambassadors provide excellent service through email, virtual, and in-person interactions. They co-present to groups of 100–600 during Campus Day events, assist in planning and executing virtual and in-person recruitment activities, and refer students to campus resources. Ambassadors participate in weekly team meetings, work collaboratively with staff and peers, and commit to ongoing professional development.

Educational Value

This position provides valuable public speaking training, experience in guest service and event planning, and insight into recruitment strategies for higher education. Ambassadors develop strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills while promoting inclusivity on campus. Paid professional development supports career and academic goals, including resume building, graduate school applications, and coaching opportunities.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and complete the I-9 employment verification process before beginning work. All I-9 materials must be provided prior to hire.

  • Must be a current LSA undergraduate student in good academic standing. Preference will be given to students with experience in customer service, guest services, recruiting, outreach, public speaking, or other related fields.

  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to learn and clearly communicate the value of a liberal arts and sciences education in LSA.

  • Flexible schedule; hours may include evenings and weekends.

  • Must pass a background check to work with minors on campus.

  • For Winter 2026, availability is required on Mondays and/or Fridays from 12:15–2:30 p.m., as well as on select Saturdays for Campus Day events.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide excellent service to prospective students and their families via email, in-person interactions, and virtual recruiting activities.

  • Attend public speaking training sessions, practice delivery, and co-present to groups of 100–600 admitted students during Winter Campus Day programs.

  • Collaborate with the LSA Recruiting and Outreach Coordinator and fellow ambassadors in webinars, Q&A sessions, and in-person events for prospective and admitted students and their families throughout the academic year.

  • Assist in planning, preparing, and executing recruiting and outreach events.

  • Connect admitted students to campus resources and programs as appropriate.

  • Participate in a weekly Friday team meeting (4:00–5:30 p.m.) with the Recruiting and Outreach Coordinator and other ambassadors. A meal is provided.

  • Complete at least two hours of professional development per semester (up to 10 paid hours available per semester). Examples include applying for jobs or graduate programs, meeting with an academic advisor, exploring internships or study abroad, attending job fairs, or participating in Opportunity Hub coaching sessions.

  • Meet with the Recruiting and Outreach Coordinator twice per semester for 30-minute one-on-one check-ins.

  • Interviews: 30-minute interviews will be conducted from Friday, September 5th through Wednesday, September 10th (excluding weekends).

  • Orientation: Training will be provided; orientation sessions will run from mid-September through October.

  • Pay Rate: $15/hour, with a $1/hour raise for each returning year.

  • Working during spring and summer terms is optional; hours may vary.
