Job Description

Position Overview:
The Department of Physics is seeking a part-time student employee to provide support for a variety of department administrative initiatives. This role is for 10 hours per week, with hours available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. 

While responsibilities will vary throughout the year to align with department priorities, they’ll include event support (set-up, tear-down and track event success metrics), work with caterers, develop digitized systems for documents and processes, and additional department continuous improvement efforts. This position will directly support the Physics Department’s Executive Assistant, Samantha  Angell Nielsen, and work closely with the department’s Chief Administrator, Chris Gale. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support short-term and ongoing projects based on departmental priorities.

  • Perform administrative tasks such as digitizing documents, composing professional communications (emails, posters, etc), and supporting continuous improvement efforts.

  • Leverage tools such as Trello, Canva, and Google apps to manage and execute tasks effectively.

This position offers the opportunity to develop organizational, communication, and small event coordination skills. You will gain experience using professional tools such as Trello for project management and communication, Canva for graphic design requests, and Google applications to improve workflows. All of these are valuable tools in many career paths.
