Job Description

We are seeking research assistants to help annotate.wav speech files using Praat for projects in speech recognition and language learning. This role focuses on carefully labeling phonetic and prosodic features in spoken language corpora.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Annotate.wav files in Praat according to detailed linguistic guidelines
  • Mark segment boundaries, phonemes, or prosodic features as needed
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency across annotations
  • Communicate regularly with the supervising research team

Job Requirements

Who Should Apply:

  • Open to both undergraduate and graduate students
  • Prior experience using Praat for phonetic or linguistic annotation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines

Preferred (but not required):

  • Background in linguistics, phonetics, speech science, or a related field
  • Familiarity with phonetic transcription (IPA) or speech corpora
