Job Description

Working title: Digital Scholarship Graduate Fellow (Digital Scholarship and Creative Spaces Department)

 

The University of Michigan Library seeks an advanced graduate student fellow with strengths in digital scholarship and digital humanities, with experience in program development and assessment. The program assistant will work closely with the U-M Library’s Digital Scholarship team and collaborators. Major responsibilities include working with librarians and staff to evaluate and plan the Anti-Racist Digital Research Institute, and develop and support the Digital Scholarship Lab. 

This fellow will also be engaged in the planning of public events that bridge digital practices and topics related to our guiding principles, often hosted in collaboration with community or campus partners, and are open to the public.

Educational Value

The fellow will work with a wide variety of scholars, technical experts, and other professionals to design and implement a successful institute program, as well as service model development for a pilot Digital Scholarship Lab. The fellow will gain experience in program development, assessment mechanisms, survey design, project management, and digital scholarship methodologies.

Job Requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently 

  • Willingness to work collaboratively in committee

  • Interest in digital research tools and methodologies (mapping, visualization, web publishing, text analysis, OCR, oral histories, etc.)

  • Interest in event planning, public programming, and curriculum development

  • Teaching and public programming experience

Hourly Rate $25.00/hour
Hours 10.0 to 20.0 hours per week
