The Department of Health Behavior and Health Equity is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Department Assistant for the Fall 2025/Winter 2026 Semester (with the potential to continue into future semesters).  This position reports to the HBHE Student Service Team and Jenny Crawford, Executive Secretary for the Department of Health Behavior and Health Equity.  The HBHE Department Assistants are responsible for the following duties:


Tasks: 

  • Collect emails and send out the HBHE Job Digest weekly

  • Assist with alumni engagement as needed

  • Collaborate with SPH MarComm team to create content for department social media

  • Department Events: Prospective Student Day, Internship Poster Session, Admitted Student Day, Graduation and Orientation, Alumni Engagement and Misc department events 

    • Draft flyers, materials, and signage for department events

    • Draft PowerPoint slides 

    • Coordinate with student volunteers as needed 

    • Provide day-of support for events

  • Student Services Office:

    • Student handbook and resource updates   

    • The Heights and general website updates and maintenance 

  • Administrative tasks   

    • Run mail from mail room to department mail areas; distribute to staff, faculty and student mailboxes

    • Organization/light cleaning of shared spaces in the department, assist with HBHE clean up days.

    • Copies, scanning, filing and deliveries/pick-ups throughout the SPH buildings or to other campus units

  • Other projects as assigned 

Educational Value

Students will gain experience working effectively on diverse teams, communicating content to multiple audiences, managing projects and programs, event planning and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.  They will also gain insight into higher education administration.

Job Requirements

 

Required Qualifications:

Currently pursuing an HBHE graduate degree, preferred, but not required.  Able to work independently.  Enthusiastic about responsibly and appropriately representing the HBHE program to prospective students.  Strong communication skills.  Attention to detail.  Able to manage multiple projects and communicate with a variety of stakeholders. 

 

Desired Qualifications:

Previous experience with graphic design and communications (social media, web design, e-newsletters, flyers).

 
Hourly Rate $18.00/hour
Hours 5.0 to 10.0 hours per week
