Job Description

St. Clare’s Episcopal Church seeks two children and youth ministry assistants to work with a team of staff and volunteers to continue to build up and sustain an inclusive, vibrant program for children and youth and their families.

Our Sunday mornings include children’s programs from 10:15-11:00, and we also provide childcare for adult programs from 9:15-10:15 or 1:00-2:30 on some Sundays (as well as occasional childcare at other days and times). The person in this position helps to facilitate the leadership of these programs by setting up materials, assisting as needed, and generally being a welcoming presence for young people and their families.

This position reports to the Rector and works in conjunction with the Children and Youth Program Director.

Job Duties: Assist with St. Clare’s Sunday morning programs for children and youth approximately 3 times a month (schedule will be developed with a team; hours are typically between 9:15 and 2:30 but do not extend that long every week)

• Welcome and orient visitors and newcomers to our space and programs throughout the morning

• Help to ensure spaces for programs are set up and that church school leaders are equipped with materials

• Provide childcare during adult formation for children aged 2-10

• Provide assistance to teachers during church school as needed

• As needed and mutually agreed upon, provide childcare for special events or during special worship services

• Attend occasional staff meetings and other planning meetings with lay leaders

Position details: Approximately 3-5 hours per week during the school year: 9:15-12:15 Sunday, with occasional childcare duties and planning meetings arranged by mutual agreement with the Rector and other leaders. Not every Sunday is required: a team of assistants will develop the schedule together. Pay is $21/hour. It includes paid sick leave.

Background check, safe church training, and vaccination are required, according to St. Clare’s personnel policies.

To Apply: Please send cover letter and resume to The Rev. Anne Clarke at revanne@saintclareschurch.org.
