Job Description

The University of Michigan Library seeks an advanced graduate student fellow with strengths in digital scholarship and digital humanities, with experience in event planning and community outreach. The Global Digital Humanities Graduate Fellow plays a key role in organizing the Global Digital Humanities Symposium, an annual conference showcasing scholarship at the intersections of the digital humanities, social justice, and global issues. The fellow will work closely with the U-M Library’s Digital Scholarship team and the Symposium Planning Committee.  Major responsibilities include facilitating the open review process, implementing communication and promotion strategies, and developing outreach strategies for digital humanities communities both globally and locally. 

 

This fellow will also be engaged in the planning of public events that bridge digital practices and topics related to our guiding principles, often hosted in collaboration with community or campus partners, and are open to the public.

Educational Value

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently 

  • Willing to work collaboratively in a committee setting

  • Ability to work across cultures

  • Experience in digital research tools and methodologies (mapping, visualization, web publishing, text analysis, OCR, oral histories, etc.)

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in event planning or conference planning

  • Professional proficiency in written and spoken Spanish

Hourly Rate $25.00/hour
