The Electric Vehicle Center (EVC) is hiring for a student research assistant dedicated to designing and producing impactful, hands-on diagnostic video content to enhance electric vehicle curricula. In this role, you’ll gain practical experience working directly with electric vehicle systems—including components such as motors, inverters, converters, and beyond—while deepening your knowledge of battery technologies, manufacturing processes, and industry safety practices. This opportunity is perfect for students who are passionate about electric vehicle technology and skilled at creating compelling educational media. As an EVC research assistant, you will be responsible for developing, executing, and editing innovative video modules that bring technical concepts to life for diverse audiences. You’ll lead both in-studio and in-lab recordings, delivering dynamic demonstrations that translate complex topics into accessible, experiential learning. While the curricular framework is already in place, your creativity will be central in transforming static materials into engaging, interactive video experiences. This position is expected to require approximately 10–20 hours per week in Fall 2025, with the possibility of extension based on project needs. You will: Plan and storyboard video modules using existing curriculum Confidently present and demonstrate hands-on activities on camera Record video content in studio and lab environments, collaborating with staff as needed Edit videos for clarity, engagement, and accessibility Deliver content creatively and effectively Ensure videos follow accessibility and instructional standards Consistently meet deadlines and produce high-quality work
You will have: Coursework or experience in EV systems, battery tech, engineering, or related fields Confident presenting technical topics on camera Experience recording educational or technical videos (portfolio/links welcome) Creative communicator and demonstrator of technical concepts Strong organization and teamwork skills Effective verbal and written communicator
Preferred skills: Experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro/Rush, iMovie, DaVinci Resolve) Experience scripting or storyboarding educational materials Familiarity with accessibility standards for digital learning content
