Job Description

The Stamps Pre-College Programs include Spring, Summer & Fall sessions. Our virtual and in-person programs are offered to current high school students (grades 9–12) interested in building new skills for their creative pursuits. Students will receive personalized training and advice from Stamps faculty and staff on building a competitive portfolio.

 

Job Summary 

Stamps Pre-College is seeking current students to join our staff as Pre-College Assistants (PCAs) to support both virtual and in-person programming in our Fall programs. 

Successful candidates will have:

 

  • an interest in supporting and facilitating arts programming for high school students

  • previous administrative or office experience and/or a desire to learn about arts administration as a possible career

  • experience in coaching, mentoring and supervising and/or an interest in building the aforementioned competencies


Pre-College Assistants play a critical role in the success of the Stamps Pre-College programs. PCAs provide program support to both the administrative and instructional staff. PCAs assist student participants, supporting their success and wellness for the duration of their Pre-College experience. Additionally, PCAs commit themselves to their own personal development as leaders/facilitators/administrators. Students in their second, third or fourth year of undergraduate studies will be given consideration for these positions.

 

Compensation and Application

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

 

  • BA/BFA Degree (in-progress)

  • Leadership/mentorship experience in a professional and/or volunteer capacity

  • Knowledge and passion for art/design

  • Personal knowledge of the Stamps School of Art & Design and the University of Michigan

  • Respect for diversity and a willingness to learn about other cultures

  • Flexibility and adaptability in a vibrant and fast-paced working environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with animation and/or graphic design

  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including strong listening skills

  • Strong time management and organizational skills

  • A positive and caring personal attitude

  • Ability to work in a collaboratively as a member of a team

  • The ability and willingness to speak positively and authentically about your U-M experience

  • Involvement in U-M clubs and student organizations

  • Valid driver’s license
