Job Description:

The  UM Campus Farm is looking for a team member to deliver our Campus Farm grown produce to U of M dining halls and the Maize and Blue Cupboard food pantry on campus. Position involves, printing invoices, loading, unloading produce into a university vehicle, driving the university, and delivering produce to the coolers and kitchens of U of M dining halls. Additional work includes various farm tasks, planting, weeding, watering plus harvest. The Campus Farm is located at Matthaei Botanical Gardens and consists of 4 acres of fields, a greenhouse, and 1 acre passive solar hoop-houses. Work shifts are during daylight hours primarily on weekdays. The Campus Farm is a student managed and staff facilitated/mentored multi-stake holder program.     Educational Value

    The candidate will gain practical experience in small scale market farming, four season growing, food safety, and local food production and distribution.

    Job Requirements

    The student must be able to operate a university motor vehicle (typically a full-size van or truck.  Strong preference to candidates who can work a min of 4 hours Tuesday mornings 8am-noon or  Tuesday afternoons noon-4pm throughout the fall term.  The remainder of the hours for the position will be filled out on other days. Preference for Monday and Wednesday.  Candidate should have the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment and the motivation to work both independently and in a team. The ability to work outdoors in unpredictable weather conditions is required. Experience or interest in organic farming is helpful. We are looking for students who can work Fall term for at least 8 hours per week.  This is a seasonal position, no hours will be available during winter term 2025 due to the seasonal nature of farming. Transportation assistance may be available. Students must be eligible for federal work study.
