The Sweetland Center for Writing seeks to hire a graduate student research to support its ongoing accessibility improvement initiative. Research, personal, and/or practical experience with disability and accessibility concerns is a must. Writing center experience is desired, but not required. The candidate's primary responsibility will be the management of Sweetland's Student Advisory Board, a body composed of disabled students paid to advise on and implement accessibility improvements. Each year, the research will collaborate with Sweetland's administrative team to identify goals for the Student Advisory Board; it will then be their responsibility to guide and structure the SAB's implementation of those goals over the course of the year. Other responsibilities may include: - Semesterly guest teaching for Writing 300 and 301 (one visit per class), the training courses for Sweetland's Peer Writing Consultants
- Consulting with Sweetland's administrative team on questions of accessibility
- Drafting verbiage related to accessibility for Sweetland's use or editing existing items
- If requested or interested, generating and delivering conference papers regarding SAB activities
The initial apointment is for one academic year, renewable pending an invitation from Sweetland's administrative team. The previous holder of this position found that five hours a week or fewer were normally required for tasks related to the position. The hired research will receive support in their role from Sweetland's administrative team and onboarding from the previous holder of this position. The hourly rate is $25. |
