Job Summary The Office of Research and Creative Practice (R+CP) in the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning is seeking a part-time research, marketing, and production assistant to help with a variety of ongoing research development and impacts communications objectives — from strategic internal communications of research opportunities and conducting benchmarking analysis of other program activities — to building a broader array of assets and communications materials around faculty projects, clusters, research and creative practice strengths and impacts. We are looking for a self-starting individual with the skills and know-how to take on, contribute to, and/or bring to completion a variety of research, communication, and design tasks. Solid writing, attention to detail, conscientiousness, and a good sense for strategic communications design are important qualities, as well as the ability to work independently, collaboratively, and with direction — often in partnership or coordination with professional staff, faculty researchers, and academic leadership. You will coordinate with the Director of Research and Creative Practice Development and will work with the R+CP team (Associate Dean Kathy Velikov and Sr. Research Administrator Caitlin Conway) to assemble assets and develop descriptions and syntheses of research projects, activities, and development materials of varied kinds. This may include developing research program descriptions, communications, and materials related to Taubman College research and creative practice goals, faculty strengths, and research clusters — as well as collecting and curating images from research teams, projects, and activities. The role may also be responsible for helping to assemble documents that capture and showcase insights, often involving collation, layout, and some graphic design of charts and figures. Additionally, the Research Impacts and Communications Assistant will help to collate, curate, and communicate funding and research development opportunities and experiences via email marketing materials and in-person events. Occasional workshops and event support [logistics, comms, set-up, food, insights capture, etc] is also possible. Responsibilities Coordinate with the R+CP team and faculty to obtain and develop descriptions of research projects and activities. Collect and curate images from research activities. Develop workshop synthesis, marketing, and communications materials related to research and creative practice goals, faculty strengths, research clusters, and research impacts. Collate, curate, and communicate funding and research development opportunities via email marketing materials. Assist in organizing and producing in-person events to share research development opportunities and experiences. Develop a repository for assets and communications materials. Assist with capturing and designing materials to communicate the R+CP development processes.
The above responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed and are not an exhaustive list of all associated responsibilities. Decision-making Process Selection Process Every effort will be made to have a hiring decision by September 5, 2025. The anticipated start date is Monday, September 8, 2025. |
