Job Description

THE FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH OF ANN ARBOR seeks an Adult Youth Leader (AYL) who will report to our Associate Minister.

The AYL will:
*Lead Middle School Sunday school. During our programming year (roughly September-June), the AYL will lead our Middle School classroom lessons weekly on Sundays.
*Develop Lessons. The AYL will develop Sunday School activities and lessons for our Middle School class. Utilizing curriculum available, engage your own creativity to help with classroom lessons and activities.
*Plan additional events. Work with FCC’s Associate Minister to plan additional, outside-of-Sunday-morning monthly activities for FCC’s middle school youth. Our Adult Youth Leader will be the lead adult for at least one additional monthly event for FCC’s Middle School Youth.
*In consultation with our Associate Minister, the AYL may also lead and support other events throughout the year. Such events may include lock-ins, confirmation classes, retreats, summer activities, etc. Some events may also include FCC’s high school youth.
*Ensure adherence to FCC’s Safe Sanctuaries Policy. The AYL will adhere to FCC’s Safe Sanctuaries Policy. The AYL will work with other staff and lay-leaders to ensure the broader FCC community’s adherence to the Safe Sanctuaries Manual. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring relevant policies and procedures of FCC’s Safe Sanctuaries Manual are followed on Sunday mornings, and during other youth events.

This list is not exhaustive. Responsibilities for this position may evolve over time, depending on needs of the congregation and skills of the employee. The position is available beginning September 2025.

REQUIREMENTS:
*You must be at least 20 years old.
*The First Congregational Church requires a background check for all people working with our children and youth.
*You must read/understand and adhere to our church’s Safe Sanctuaries Manual.

Hours 3.0 to 4.0 hours per week
Compensation $20.00/hour
