The Fellows working on this project will create an exhibit that will highlight the Sam Karres Archive 1955-2012 (consisting primarily of sketches and watercolors) and contextualize the importance of his work depicting ordinary life in Detroit, particularly Greektown. The Fellows will gain an understanding of Detroit and Greektown, learn how to search for library resources and archives, contextualize historical material, learn how to write for exhibits, develop project management skills, integrate best accessibility practices, and work in a small team. The culmination of these activities and acquired skills will be an exhibit that will help the U-M community and others easily understand the importance of Sam Karres and the value of library archives and resources. Students are also required to do this library specific applcation. |
