Job Description

Collaborate with the Library Human Resources (HR) and Strategic Planning (SP) Teams  to conduct research and create informational reports to inform the Library Onboarding Program. This would involve reviewing and organizing onboarding practices from across the library and U-M, researching best practices related to new employee engagement, belonging and retention, and writing reports that can be used to help review and refine the library onboarding system. 

Students are also required to complete this library specific application.  

Educational Value

Students will learn how to conduct research on issues related to human resources, including best practices. They will participate in program review and refinement.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

U-M Master’s degree student in good standing.

 

Position-Specific Desired Qualifications: 

  • Interest in human resources practices

  • Interest in organizational leadership

  • Interest in employee belonging and engagement 

  • A working familiarity with Google platforms including docs, sheets, forms, chat, meet and Gmail 

  • A working familiarity with Zoom

 

Expectations:

  • Adhere to agreed-upon schedule and project deadlines, communicating any challenges or barriers to the project lead.

  • Engage in a great deal of independent work on projects.

  • Seek guidance from the project lead and mentors as needed.

  • Periodically share project progress and solicit feedback from the library HR and SP teams. 

  • Periodically attend Engagement Fellow training sessions and cohort meetings.
