Job Description

The BME Design Spaces is seeking student Design Spaces Supervisors who will be the point of contact for users of the BME Design Spaces. Design Spaces Supervisors are responsible for training students on the safe use of tools and equipment, maintaining tools and equipment, and regularly keeping the spaces organized, clean, and functional. Design Spaces Supervisors will gain a variety of skills and experience in the operation and maintenance of equipment, as well as direct leadership and mentorship experience with students. BME Design Spaces Supervisors will:

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for students working in the Design Spaces
  • Train students in the safe use of tools and equipment including, but not limited to hand tools, power tools (drills, rotary tools) and digital tools (3D printers, laser cutter, waterjet) and more.
  • Hold regularly scheduled weekly hours (6-12 hours per week)
  • Attend Design Space team meetings
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of policies, procedures, and training
  • Support and promote the BME Design Spaces by facilitating tours, workshops, etc.

Gain experience and knowlege in a design space lab setting.

Job Requirements

Specific experience is not required, but familiarity with making and prototyping is an asset. The most important qualifications are that you are willing to learn and share your knowledge.

The Design Spaces Supervisor position is open to BME students.

Hourly Rate $17.00/hour
Hours 6.0 to 12.0 hours per week
