Job Description

The Truttmann and Pletcher laboratories at the University of Michigan are seeking highly motivated undergraduate work-study students to participate in an exciting project focused on developing agenic AI systems for biological research and scientific writing applications.

 

Educational Value

You will collaborate with faculty and research staff to create, test, and refine AI-driven tools aimed at advancing computational approaches in the biological sciences. This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art AI technologies and to contribute to impactful research.

Job Requirements
  • Collaborate on the design and development of agenic AI systems tailored to biological research and writing tasks
  • Write and test Python code for data processing, algorithm development, and automated writing assistance
  • Assist with review, benchmarking, and evaluation of AI performance
  • Participate in team meetings and project updates

 

  • University of Michigan undergraduate student (work study preferred but not essential) with work-study eligibility
  • Experience with Python programming is required, and knowledge of AI frameworks (e.g., LLMs, generative models, or agent-based AI tools) is desirable
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Interest in computational biology, artificial intelligence, or related fields
Hourly Rate $15.00/hour
Hours 6.0 to 18.0 hours per week
