Tabling and Support Undergraduate Student Lead University of Michigan Spectrum Center, Student Life About Spectrum Center: Spectrum Center is a campus resource center dedicated to serving and supporting the University of Michigan community, with a focus on gender and sexuality. Founded in 1971, Spectrum Center is the first campus-based center of its kind. Through campus-wide education, research, and community building, the center staff work to enhance campus climate, increase belonging, and help students thrive. We serve and support members of the U-M's LGBTQIA2S+ communities and strive to create a campus where people of all sexualities and genders are welcome, included, and valued. About the Position: The Tabling and Support Student Undergraduate Lead will assist the center with outreach and events work through representing the center at outreach events throughout the year, maintaining supplies for outreach, and providing support to the Events and Partnerships team as needed. They will support the Events and Partnerships Graduate Student Coordinator throughout the year and meet regularly with the person in that position to strategize for the semester. This position will also be responsible for one to two shifts per week at the front desk in the Spectrum Center office providing support with the reception of visitors.
Job Summary/Responsibilities Tabling and Outreach Support (45%) ? Attend outreach events such as resource fairs to represent Spectrum Center and answer questions about Center’s work ? Promote upcoming events to students and campus community members ? Check and maintain supplies for outreach in tabling box and other center storage ? Transport tabling box to and from on campus events when necessary ? Help develop policies related to tabling and outreach ? Assist the E&P Graduate Student Coordinator in coordinating tabling engagements ? Attend regular check-in meetings with the E&P Graduate Student Coordinator Support for Events and Partnerships (35%) ? Provide support as needed for events planned and/or hosted by Spectrum Center ? Assist Events and Partnerships team with long term projects, particularly during light outreach seasons ? Support administrative and assessment work related to Events and Partnerships area of work All Staff Responsibilities (20%) ? Provide front desk coverage for approximately 4-6 hours per week. ? Attend monthly all staff meetings ? Attend Spectrum Center, Student Life, and University-wide professional development opportunities |
