Job Description

The Dental Informatics IT team at the School of Dentistry is seeking a highly motivated, tech-savvy
University of Michigan student to join us as a Computer Consultant II working primarily at our Help Center front desk. In this role, you will provide essential support to faculty, students, and staff—ensuring their IT needs are met efficiently and professionally. Dental Informatics is the School’s technology hub, delivering IT solutions in support of education, patient care, research, and discovery.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver excellent customer service at the Help Center front desk
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for technology support (in-person, phone, ticket, or email)
  • Triage incoming support tickets by assessing urgency and assigning or escalating as appropriate
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Tier 1 IT support issues for end users
  • Assist with software installations, updates, and basic hardware configuration
  • Provide clear, user-friendly technical guidance to individuals of all skill levels
  • Ensure data sensitivity and compliance in healthcare and academic environments

Job Requirements
  • Must be a current U-M student
  • Eager to learn and thrive in a dynamic, ever-evolving IT environment
  • Familiarity with and interest in supporting Windows, MacOS, and iOS systems
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, etc.) and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong verbal and written technical communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with users and technical staff
  • Exceptional customer service: actively listens, communicates empathetically, and resolves issues with patience and professionalism
Hourly Rate $17.50/hour to $19.00/hour
Hours 18.0 to 25.0 hours per week
