Job Description

The CSE Department is seeking RenewCS Peer tutors to work one-on-one with students in EECS 183, 203, 280, and/or 281 to help them develop skills they need to be successful in these core CS courses. We are seeking individuals who are excited about helping others learn and creating an inclusive experience. Peer tutors set their own schedule and we send it out each week so that students can sign up for up to an hour of tutoring. Students will gain experience with scheduling and running tutoring sessions, building rapport with their peers, and will develop leadership and communication skills.

Educational Value

This position provides valuable experience in a university setting, allowing students to strengthen their technical knowledge while developing key professional skills. Peer Tutors gain hands-on practice in mentoring, leadership, and communication through one-on-one tutoring, as well as experience managing schedules and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Job Requirements

- Completed EECS 183, 203, 280, and/or 281 with an understanding of the key concepts (this is flexible depending on which course the tutor wants to specialize in)
- Majoring, minoring, or demonstrated interest in Computer Science
- Some familiarity or understanding of imposter syndrome and strategies to combat it
- Passionate about supporting student success

Hourly Rate $15.00/hour
Hours 5.0 to 7.0 hours per week
