Job Description

Interested in health equity, big data, and real-world impact? Want an opportunity to build research skills, co-authored papers, and work on projects with public health relevance? Join us as a Temporary Research Associate II to support our projects funded by the American Heart Association. These studies examine how structural inequalities—measured across multiple geographic levels based on census data—impact stroke care, including emergency medical services (EMS) use, delayed hospital arrival, and incident stroke. The position is ideal for students interested in health equity, social determinants of health, and applied quantitative research. Responsibilities include data management and analysis (R/Stata/SAS), literature reviews, manuscript and presentation support, and participation in regular team meetings. This is a hybrid or fully remote position starting Sept 2025, offering flexible hours (10–20 hours/week) until April 2026.

Educational Value

The student will gain experience building research skills, co-authoring papers, and working on projects with public health relevance. 

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in a Master’s or Doctoral program in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Quantitative Sociology, Health Policy, or related field
  • Strong foundational training in quantitative data analysis using R, Stata, or SAS
  • Experience or interest in structural determinants of health and health equity
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Applied experience conducting biostatistical or epidemiologic analyses 
  • Familiarity with spatial analysis tools (e.g., ArcGIS or QGIS) 
  • Experience or interest in working with Census data (American Community Survey) or large administrative or health datasets
Hourly Rate $24.00/hour to $28.00/hour
Hours 10.0 to 20.0 hours per week
