Job Description

The Digital Studies Institute is hiring a Web Editor to support the management and creation of content for our website and digital communication platforms. This role includes the following responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain content on the DSI website (www.digitalstudies.umich.edu) using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM);
     

  • Format and upload news articles, event listings, course descriptions, and student/faculty features;
     

  • Collaborate with DSI staff to ensure timely and accurate updates that align with our academic degrees, public-facing programming, and research initiatives;
     

  • Apply accessibility best practices in all web content (e.g., alt text, heading structure, contrast, and screen reader compatibility);
     

  • Recommend improvements to website structure, navigation, and user experience based on current content trends and user needs.

Educational Value

This position offers hands-on experience in content management, digital communications, and web accessibility using a professional-grade enterprise platform. The student will also develop valuable skills in editorial workflows, digital storytelling, project management, and UX design fundamentals.

Job Requirements

Preference will be given to applicants who meet the following criteria:

  • Experience writing, editing, or managing web content;
     

  • Familiarity with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or other content management systems;
     

  • Strong writing, proofreading, and attention to detail;
     

  • Interest in digital accessibility, digital publishing, and online communication.
     

Preferred, but not required:

  • Familiarity with basic HTML/CSS;
     

  • Experience with SEO or web analytics tools;
     

  • Interest in design or content strategy.
     

Hourly Rate $18.00/hour to $23.00/hour
Hours 6.0 to 8.0 hours per week
