Path Leaders will facilitate in-person synchronous programs for 7th-12th grade scholars on Saturdays. They will support youth development and foster opportunities for scholars to build relationships with others. Path leaders will help scholars build community, chaperone field trips, facilitate college and career exploration for scholars and assist with logistical tasks.

Path Leaders will be expected to provide exemplary service throughout this employment period. Applicants must commit to all training and programming dates upon hire.

  • Foster a community where youth discover, develop and showcase their interests and identities while building community with one another
  • Cultivate community norms and practices that support scholars in building relationships with others who are different from them
  • Facilitate activities with competence and enthusiasm 
  • Provide group facilitation consistent with supporting college-going and career exploration
  • Supervise and manage scholar engagement in large and small groups
  • Maintain all administrative records in accordance with supervisory responsibilities
  • Be physically present for all in-person sessions that are scheduled
Position Details
  • Compensation: $18/hour
  • This is a part-time temporary position. 
  • Upon good performance, this position has the option of being extended into the winter 2025 session

Job Requirements
  • Experience with community building, group facilitation, tutoring, coaching, advising, mentoring, or otherwise guiding youth in their development or knowledge consistent with such work
  • Knowledge of or practice in inter-group relations or multiculturalism
  • Desire to increase the academic achievement of diverse students
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Experience keeping detailed, accurate and organized records
  • Background or experience in community engagement and/or college access programs
  • Specific performance-based competencies and/or preferred dispositions to include: tact and courtesy; punctuality and timeliness; professionalism; strong email etiquette; ability to maintain confidentiality, set priorities, attend to detail and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment.

    • 2.5 hours of online pre-session professional development from 10am-12:30pm on Tuesday, September 16, 2025

      • College Prep Conference - October 25, 2025
      • Michigan in Motion - November 15, 2025
      • Professional Development Conference - December 6, 2025
      • Pathway Days - October 4, 2025 and October 11, 2025
      • UM Dearborn College Visit - October 18, 2025
      • If other in-person dates are needed, 48 hours notice will be provided
Hourly Rate $18.00/hour
