Job Description

Curatorial Research Assistant (Photography)

 

The photography Research Assistant will primarily conduct curatorial research on the University of Michigan Museum of Art’s newly acquired Terry Braunstein Archive in advance of an upcoming exhibition and publication. In addition, the assistant is expected to complete administrative tasks, write gifts of art proposals, support the development and implementation of upcoming exhibitions and acquisitions, and will be reporting to the Interim Chief Curator/Associate Curator of Photography. Additional responsibilities will include collection research and writing, data entry, and collection interpretations.

 
Educational Value

This position is ideal for students who want to gain experience in curatorial and museum administrative work. In addition, by closely working with the Interim Chief Curator/Associate Curator of Photography, they will acquire research skills and art historical knowledge in photography and modern and contemporary art.

 
Job Requirements

Prior museum experience is not required, but successful applicants should have taken at least one advanced-level (300 or higher) art history course by the start of employment. Start and end dates are flexible for this position.

Hourly Rate $18.00/hour to $23.00/hour
Hours 6.0 to 10.0 hours per week
