The Wheelchair Rugby Intern/assistant coach will assist the Head Wheelchair Rugby Coach in training sessions, game preparation, and overall team operations. The intern will function as an assistant coach, offering technical and tactical support to enhance athlete performance and development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Training Support:
- Support the Head Coach during team practices by setting up drills, managing equipment, and providing on-court assistance.
- Collaborate with the Head Coach to develop and implement practice plans.
- Conduct individual or small group training sessions to address specific needs or skill development.
- Provide chair maintenance support for athletes during and after practice sessions.
- Assist with wheelchair transfers and flipping athletes during practice sessions and in competition.
Game Preparation and Analysis: - Assist with game preparation, including organizing and setting up for practices and matches.
- Review game footage to identify areas for improvement and work with athletes on specific aspects of their play.
- Schedule and lead film sessions to analyze strategies, techniques, and individual performance.
- Support the planning and operations of the Coupie Classic Wheelchair rugby home tournament.
Event Coordination
- Help organize and coordinate Wheelchair Rugby tournaments, including travel arrangements, schedules, and logistics.
- Assist with planning and executing special events such as clinics or community outreach initiatives.
- Assist with event-day logistics, including athlete travel, check-ins, warm-ups, and athlete/equipment management
- Act as a liaison between athletes, coaches, and event officials to support operations during events.
- May have the ability to travel with the team for competitive events.
