The Center for Socially Engaged Engineering and Design (C-SED) is seeking an hourly student research and assessment assistant who will support data collection and analysis efforts related to C-SED’s educational initiatives and socially engaged engineering education more broadly. A research and assessment assistant would work closely with our Lead Research and Assessment Strategist to coordinate data collection efforts, review and analyze qualitative and basic quantitative data, and summarize findings in written form. Findings will be leveraged to inform C-SED’s educational resources and activities.

The hourly rate would range between $20-$28, depending on academic level and prior experience. A good candidate for this position will have some familiarity and/or interest in the engineering education context or STEM education context more broadly. Graduate-level experience with qualitative research methods is preferred but not required. Written communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to synthesize information, and comfort working both independently and in collaboration with team members are key. A student joining our team would be expected to work approximately 5 hours per week in both Fall ‘25 and Winter ‘26 semesters, with the potential for summer work depending on funding availability and student interest and performance.
