Job Description

 

The Eco-Park Landscaping Crew Member will support the creation of gardens, trails, and outdoor learning spaces at a new 10-acre outdoor nature and education center. Responsibilities include groundskeeping, farm-animal care, trail creation, and helping to install interpretive signs and other park features. Crew members also provide support for public events, ensuring the park remains clean and welcoming for the community. Ideal candidates are extremely reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team, enjoy outdoor work, and have a passion for environmental stewardship.

Key Duties:

  • Provide care for goats, including feeding, grooming, shed cleaning, and enrichment.
  • Perform landscaping, gardening, and groundskeeping tasks, such as watering, weeding, planting, mowing, removal of invasive shrubs.
  • Construct and maintain walking trails.

8-10hrs/wk, 2-4 hrs/shift, morning and evening shifts available, weekday and weekend shifts available

Fellowfield Discovery Park is a new outdoor nature and learning center to serve the diverse community of southeast Michigan (and anyone else who wants to visit!)  Nestled in a landscape of gardens, wetlands, and native forest, our park is a place where people of all ages will come to connect—with nature, with each other, and with ideas that shape our world. 

Our mission is to nurture a deeper understanding of the natural world and our place within it, fostering relationships that are rooted in respect, curiosity, and shared responsibility. The park will be home to education programs, hands-on learning stations, trails, gardens, and natural playgrounds that encourage visitors of all ages to learn through play, observation, and engagement with one another and the world around them.

Prior to the park’s official opening in 2026, we will be hosting volunteer work days and pre-opening tours for donors and other special guests.

As an Eco-Park Landscaping Crew Member at Fellowfield, you will gain hands-on experience in conservation practices and sustainable landscaping. You will develop practical skills in trail maintenance, habitat restoration, and outdoor site management while contributing to a mission-driven organization focused on community health and justice. This role provides the opportunity to make a tangible impact on creating a welcoming space for community learning and engagement.

 
Job Requirements
  • Able to perform physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including cold weather, with good humor.
  • Reliable and available to work onsite at the park consistently.
  • Access to dependable transportation.
  • Experience with gardening, farming, agroecology, or other agricultural practices is a plus but not required.
  • Interested in groundskeeping, landscaping, farming, or habitat restoration work.
  • Commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability
Hourly Rate $17.50/hour
Hours 8.0 to 10.0 hours per week
