Job Description

 

The Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program (www.dbgdetroit.org) is a nonprofit after-school program for students ages 8-18. Through education, athletics, mentorship and intervention, the Downtown Boxing Gym (DBG) empowers Detroit students to become positive and productive members of society. 

At Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program we believe in the potential of all children by providing a launch-pad for their success. We are connected as a family and community for the purpose of ensuring our graduates are represented in the boardrooms of the future.

 

DBG is seeking a part-time Learningl Success Specialist for DBG students in grades 3-12 to support students in their academic success through tutoring, homework assistance, and academic mentorship. This role reports directly to DBG’s School Success Manager.

Job Requirements

As a Learning Success Specialist, your areas of roles and responsibility will include: 

  • Support students in homework completion, assignments, projects, and studies

  • Support students individually and in small groups

  • Contribute to and carry out students’ Individualized Student Plans

  • Support students with time, study, and project management skills 

  • Support Learning Success Manager in carrying out curricula that supports students holistically, including academic support, social-emotional growth, and life skills

  • Work as part of the academics team to manage the day-to-day operations of programs and activities

  • Provide mentorship and support to students

  • Collaborate across departments within the organization to develop and implement special projects, events, and initiatives

  • Proactively design and deliver all needed projects within agreed upon time frame. Recognize that project direction and timing may change in response to the outside environment. 

  • Attend team meetings regularly

Hourly Rate $20.00/hour
Hours 10.0 to 20.0 hours per week
