Location: 317 Maynard St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104 (75% in-person fellowship experience)
Pay Rate: Master’s $20/hr, Doctoral $23/hr
Job Duration: 10-15 hours/week for fall 2025 semester, with the possibility of extending the fellowship

Who we’re looking for: 
The Data and Business Intelligence team at the Center for Academic Innovation is looking for Data Engineering Fellows to assist in building out our Data Warehouse. This role will involve exploring various application databases, understanding their data models and working on ELT pipelines to bring that data to the warehouse. Hence the knowledge of SQL, relational and columnar databases, and python is required. 

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Build data pipelines using ELT tools
  • Replicate data transformations coded in python as workflows in Matillion
  • Query data from Snowflake, analyze it and perform data quality checks
  • Run unit and system tests to ensure ELT workflows meet the requirements

The Experience and Skills You’ll Gain: 
Hands-on experience in building enterprise scale data warehouses using modern cloud data warehousing tools like Snowflake and Matillion. You’ll learn how to extract data from different types of systems (salesforce.com, Redshift, Postgres and more), build data models to house the data, transform them based on business requirements and make data available for analytics and AI/ML use cases.
Job Requirements

Student Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a master’s degree or above in computer science, data engineering, data curation, data science, informatics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and work independently or as part of a rapidly changing, multidisciplinary, multicultural, and collaborative environment.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Experience with SQL, Database management systems and Python
Hourly Rate $20.00/hour to $23.00/hour
Hours 10.0 to 15.0 hours per week
Time Frame Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer
Start Date Monday, October 13, 2025
End Date At the end of the fall term, with possibility of a fellowship extension
