Job Description

Job Title:  Media Assistant - Video/Animation

We're looking for someone to assist with video and animation productions, creating Storyboards and mood boards, performing basic editing in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere and After effects, and help with general multimedia work. Working hours are flexible, likely amounting to 10-20 hours a week depending on aptitude and interest, extending throughout the school year. The bulk of this position will end in May 2026, but summer hours or a return in fall 2026 are possibilities for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with members of the MarCom team to determine photo and video needs on a project by project basis

  • Assist with the planning and producing of photo/video shoots and completing post-production processing

  • Perform edits based on feedback from stakeholders

Educational Value
  • Collaborate with and learn best practices for storytelling and visual marketing from our staff marketers and designers.

  • Practice and demonstrate essential multimedia skills under deadline and in real-world conditions.

  • Gain experience meeting the photo/video needs of internal and external customers. 

  • Build an understanding of the marketing goals and strategies used in higher education.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Some professional experience in photo and/or video

  • Experience using the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, especially Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects.

  • Experience drawing and drafting visual contents

  • Experience creating multimedia content for social media


Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in marketing, communications or journalism

  • Experience with metadata and archiving photos

Work Location We are headquartered at Wolverine Tower in Ann Arbor and operate as a hybrid workplace, balancing our time between working from home and in the office. Some photography/videography assignments will require on-campus work. Assignments will include creating photography and video at various locations and events across the Ann Arbor campus, with occasional assignments on the Dearborn and Flint campuses.
