Note: Only applicants who follow these instructions will be consideredThe Center for Sustainable Systems is seeking a motivated student to join our team as a Student Communications & Engagement Assistant for the Winter and Spring/Summer 2026 terms. This position is integral to supporting our mission to create and advance sustainable solutions through research, community engagement, and education. The successful candidate will provide key support in daily operations, communications, and outreach efforts that help connect and grow the CSS community. Time Commitment: 10–15 hours per week (Winter term), 20+ per week (Spring/Summer terms) Pay: $18-$20/hour How You’ll Support the CSS Mission Maintain and update CSS webpages and communication channels to ensure timely, relevant, and engaging content. Organize and manage the CSS shared Google Drive for ease of access and collaboration. Assist with event planning and logistics, including room reservations, on-site coordination, attendee check-in, catering orders, and post-event follow-up or reconciliation. Support data entry, organization, and the development of visual materials and infographics. Serve as the first point of contact for administrative questions in the CSS office and assist staff and community members as needed. Ways You’ll Help Communicate & Engage Coordinate CSS participation in campus and community events: from logistics to set-up and outreach. Edit and distribute the monthly CSS e-Newsletter via Mailchimp. Design flyers, infographics, and digital invitations for CSS events and initiatives. Strengthen CSS’s presence across multiple social media channels. Provide ongoing content and updates for the CSS website, newsletters, and other outreach materials, following accessibility and inclusivity best practices. Contribute to strategies for promoting CSS research, student opportunities, publications, and events to diverse audiences. |

Job Requirements |
Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student in SEAS, PitE, or Environmental Science (undergraduate or graduate). Availability to work between 10-15 hours each week during the Winter term, and up to 20+ hours per week during Spring/Summer. Strong organizational abilities, with an eye for detail and a track record of reliably completing tasks. Clear and effective communicator, both verbally and in writing. Enjoys collaborating in a team environment with students, staff, and faculty members. Experience with digital design tools (such as Canva, Photoshop, or related software) for creating graphics and visual materials. Social media experience (LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) Comfortable and efficient working with Google Workspace applications like Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms. |
