Job Description

The Research Assistant will contribute to a randomized controlled trial (RCT) examining the impact of a digital identification mobile phone application (UGPASS) on small businesses in Kampala, Uganda. This project is led by Professor Emma Riley (Economics, U-M) in collaboration with Professor Isabelle Cohen (University of Washington).
Duties include:

  • Reviewing and summarizing existing literature

  • Cleaning datasets

  • Assisting with statistical analysis

  • Producing tables and graphs of analytical outputs

Educational Value

Students will gain hands-on experience in applied research, data analysis, and coding in Stata. This position provides exposure to development economics research and experience working as part of an academic research team.

Job Requirements

 

 

  • Knowledge of programming and data analysis in Stata (required)

  • Experience cleaning and analyzing data in Stata (preferred)

  • Interest in development economics

  • Major or intended major in Economics preferred

  • Experience with LaTeX and/or teamwork on research projects a plus
