Job Description

This is Hatcher Library Acquisitions, Arrival and Activation Student Assistant job.

Primary responsibility  is unpacking and reviewing all incoming material from domestic and foreign vendors. Identify shelf ready , firm orders, standing orders and approvals material Distinguish periodicals from serials and monographic series. Identify non serial and reference material  and material in non-Roman alphabets. Help to sort shipments in the storage room and sort material to the shelves. Verify accuracy of shipments, book slips and invoices; shelve books,incribe, scan and file invoices to the computer folder. Other duties may include; mark and sort US documents received on deposit, provide support to search bibliographic records in the library system.Provide support of searching material in the stacks, stamp and barcode book. Also unpack special format material as: DVDs, CD's, games. Related duties as assigned. Training will be provided

Educational Value

Students will learn how Library Technical Services works and gain sharp attention to details, good communication skills, see the variety of foreign languages, get organized skills and also learn how to scan documents in PDF format and add them to the computer folder. 

Job Requirements

Attentiveness to details: good organizational skills; able to complete assigned tasks accurately, independently and on time. Ability to unpack boxes (20-40- pounds). Move full book carts, shift and shelve material. Working knowledge of at least one non- English European Language. Strong interpersonal and English language skills. Flexibility in adapting to changing priorities

Hourly Rate $15.00/hour
Hours 8.0 to 12.0 hours per week
