Job Description

Are you passionate about social media, digital content creation, and telling a better story about women in STEM? Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) is looking for a creative Social Media Intern to join our team and assist with our online presence and community engagement. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience managing social media accounts, creating engaging content, capturing event moments through photography, assisting with newsletter maintenance, and contributing to building a supportive community.

Educational Value
  • Content Creation: You will

    • Develop and curate engaging digital content (including text, videos, and images/graphics) for our Instagram and LinkedIn accounts.

    • Work collaboratively to brainstorm, plan, and implement social media campaigns promoting our brand, programs, and events; advocate for marginalized communities in STEM fields, and tell a better story about women in STEM.

  • Event Coverage: You will

    • Attend WISE events and capture high-quality photos for social media use.

    • Collaborate with the WISE team to create event graphics and promote events through social media channels.

  • Newsletter Maintenance: You will

    • Work independently to write, edit, and distribute the weekly undergraduate and graduate student newsletters.

    • Help maintain a database of newsletter subscribers.

    • Collaborate with the WISE team to ensure newsletter content is engaging.

  • Online Community Building: You will

    • Monitor social media trends, conversations, and feedback related to our brand.

    • Contribute ideas and strategies to increase brand visibility and develop an engaged online community.

    • Engage with our social media audience by responding to comments and mentions.

    • Collaborate with other campus units to cross-promote content.

    • Develop quarterly reports on the growth of social media accounts using account analytics and data.

Job Requirements
  • Proficient with social media platforms, including Instagram and LinkedIn, and working knowledge of their respective best practices.

  • Experience with content creation tools and software, such as Adobe Creative (Photoshop, Illustrator, or Express).

  • Knowledge of basic photography and editing software. (Candidates with smartphone photography skills will also be considered!)

  • Availability to photograph events during the school year

Hourly Rate $15.50/hour
