Job Description

The Statistical Analysis of Biomedical and Educational Research (SABER) unit is the data coordinating center for several multi-center clinical trials and observational studies. SABER is a research center located within the Biostatistics Department at the School of Public Health (SPH) on Michigan's central campus.

The Regulatory Assistant will support the SABER quality management team by obtaining and maintaining electronic study documents, updating tracking spreadsheets, monitoring expiration dates (e.g., training, licenses, IRB approvals), and flagging missing or inconsistent information. The Regulatory Assistant will attend Quality Management team meetings and study work group meetings as schedule and time permits.

Educational Value

This position offers an introduction to the foundations of clinical human subjects’ research and Good Clinical Practice (GCP). The student will gain hands-on experience with regulatory documentation, compliance tracking, and data organization—key skills for anyone interested in research coordination, public health, or clinical operations. The student will also gain insight into clinical trial operations including study start-up, maintenance, and close-out. This position is a great opportunity to work on multidisciplinary research trials and collaborate with key stakeholders including project managers, clinical research coordinators, research physicians, and research administrators.

Job Requirements

As SABER is a completely remote team, the ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable using Excel and Google Sheets. They can manage their time well, work independently and remotely, and communicate proactively to meet deadlines. They can switch between tasks and effectively prioritize high importance items between multiple research projects.
