Job Description

The Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia, the Center for Armenian Studies, and the Center for Emerging Democracies are seeking a Digital Engagement and Marketing Assistant to support the execution of the center’s marketing, communications, and general office duties.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Digital media & content creation

  • Social media support & communications

  • Develop & execute social media campaigns

  • Design of print & electronic materials

  • Monitor & respond to comments/direct messages

  • Collaborate with University Communications staff to cross-promote events on the official University of Michigan accounts

  • General office duties including covering front desk and telephone, assisting visitors and maintaining common areas and office equipment

  • Assist with program planning, coordinating events, and providing other logistical support.

  • Promotional initiatives research and identification

  • Assist with flyering and distribution of outreach materials

  • Other duties as needed

The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and you may be asked to assist at occasional evening events. Position hours are scheduled around students’ class schedule each semester.

Educational Value

Practical administrative, communications and social media marketing experience in a fast paced, internationally-focused office. The position offers an opportunity to learn about academic programs’ communications while building content creation skills related to written content for social media, websites, and other platforms that reach the school’s various audiences. This role offers hands-on experience in producing multimedia content, shaping brand identity, and planning and managing marketing calendars. It also provides opportunities to learn about Europe, Eurasia, Armenia, and Emerging Democracies, particularly through lectures, events, and opportunities to interact with scholars and dignitaries from all around the world.

Job Requirements

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Solid computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suites, especially a variety of social media platforms including Facebook, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and YouTube. Strong writing and editing skills. Proficiency and/or ability to quickly learn digital media creation platforms such as Canva, Photoshop, video editing softwares, etc. Ability to learn and adhere to university brand standards. Dependable and punctual. Independence and creativity are an asset in this office. Applicants should submit a copy of their resume and their fall/winter schedule to dinaf@umich.edu.
