Job Description

The Center for Academic Innovation (CAI) is offering a paid employment opportunity for the Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 term that is available to all University of Michigan students. Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking for a motivated, responsible, and creative student to assist in the creation of a new online MOOC series focusing on JavaScript and the React platform, under the direction of School of Information faculty Steve Oney.  

Responsibilities: 

Duties may include some or all of the following: 

  • Content creation and revision

  • Assessment creation and revision

  • Quiz creation, testing, and debugging

  • In-Video Quiz (IVQ) creation, testing, and debugging

  • Discussion forum development and organization

  • Video subtitle review and revision

  • Slide creation and review, alongside CAI’s Learning Experience Designer

Required qualifications:

  • Familiarity with HTML and JavaScript (ideally React)

  • Comfort working with the command line/terminal

  • (Optional) familiarity with build tools (e.g., Webpack)

  • (Optional) familiarity with Docker

  • (Optional) familiarity with Coursera

  • Ability to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week to this project

Hours, wage, & dates:

  • Hours: 10-15 hours per week (flexible hours)

  • Pay: Undergraduate $17/hr, Graduate $20/hr, PhD/JD/Postdoc $23/hr

  • Start Date: As soon as possible 

  • End Date: April 2026, or whenever course design is complete

Deadline for applications: Ongoing

Experience working directly with U-M faculty on course design; experience with cross-team collaboration; experience working in a hybrid work environment
