Job Description

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to provide essential support to the Research Director and Clinical Coordinator within the Section of Vascular Surgery. In this role, you will contribute to a variety of ongoing clinical research projects and play a key part in advancing the team’s scientific and patient-centered goals. Responsibilities will include assisting with the preparation, submission, and maintenance of IRB applications and related regulatory documents; screening potential study participants for eligibility through the MiChart electronic medical record system; and engaging in both in-person and virtual (phone-based) recruitment efforts to ensure diverse and appropriate patient enrollment. The position also requires accurate, timely data entry and ongoing data quality monitoring to support high-integrity research outcomes. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced clinical research environment.

Educational Value

This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain firsthand experience in a clinical research environment, with the chance to collaborate closely with researchers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. The candidate will deepen their understanding of medical terminology, the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process, data collection methods, and data entry practices. Qualified candidates may also have the opportunity to contribute to abstracts and manuscripts as a co-author.

Job Requirements

At this time, due to project demands, we are only considering applicants who plan to take dedicated gap year(s) prior to entering medical school.

Prior experience in research or in a clinical or hospital environment is highly desirable. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, capable of working independently under the supervision of the Research Director, and able to interact professionally with patients, providers, and support staff. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Availability during standard clinic hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) is essential.
