Job Description

We are looking for one or more Work Study Students to support our team during in-person human subjects research sessions taking place at North Campus. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Study-Session Duties: Assist with scheduling study sessions and coordinating participant logistics using Google Calendar and email.

  • Study Session Setup: Help set up study sessions, including preparing the room and ensuring all technical equipment is functioning properly.

  • Participant Coordination: Greet participants, assist with necessary paperwork, and ensure that all study forms are completed correctly.

  • Technical Assistance: Support the research team with managing technical controls, holding and adjusting light equipment, and troubleshooting any issues that arise during sessions.

  • Post-Study-Session Duties: Aid in organizing data, note-taking, and other administrative tasks as required.

Educational Value

This role offers insight into interdisciplinary research and methodologies associated with human studies. You will gain experience in a controlled research environment, learning about the ethical and procedural standards of conducting human studies at the intersection of Computer Science and Psychology. 

 
Job Requirements

 

 

 

  • No prior experience in human studies is required; training associated with the study will be provided (~1 hour)

  • Comfortable using scheduling tools like Google Calendar and email

  • Able to attend study sessions with about 2 days notice 

  • Able to attend study session that will take place at: Bonisteel Interdisciplinary Research Building (BIRB), 2360 Bonisteel Blvd, Ann Arbor, MI 48109 (North Campus)

  • Availability during afternoons and/or evenings on the weekdays and/or weekends

  • Able to position lightweight equipment (comparable to moving a laptop so that subjects are in view of its camera)

  • Able to stand or lean for an hour and walk

Hours per week: 

Expected to work approximately 10 hours per week but we will consider students who would like to work fewer hours

Flexible scheduling with some required availability during specific times (scheduled study sessions, training, etc)

 

Compensation: $20 per hour
