55th Anniversary Graduate Student Coordinator University of Michigan Spectrum Center, Student Life About Spectrum Center: Spectrum Center is a campus resource center dedicated to serving and supporting the University of Michigan community, with a focus on gender and sexuality. Founded in 1971, Spectrum Center is the first campus-based center of its kind. Through campus-wide education, research, and community building, the center staff work to enhance campus climate, increase belonging, and help students thrive. We serve and support members of the U-M's LGBTQIA2S+ communities and strive to create a campus where people of all sexualities and genders are welcome, included, and valued. About the position: The 55th Anniversary Graduate Student Coordinator will project manage Spectrum Center’s year of programs to celebrate our 55th anniversary to be held during the Fall 2026–Winter 2027 academic year. Anniversary events include, but are not limited to, a kick-off reception, a teach-in, and an alumni panel. We are seeking a creative and motivated individual with strong project management and event planning skills. This role is ideal for a graduate or professional student who is team-oriented and passionate about building community. Applicants must be enrolled students in good standing for Winter 2026, Fall 2026, and Winter 2027. Job Responsibilities Programs and Events (45%) Assist the director and associate director in the planning and execution of all 55th anniversary events and initiatives. Develop event assessment for all 55th anniversary events. Assist the director and associate director in cultivating partnerships and co-sponsorships. Support the director and associate director in on-campus fundraising. Support the director with donor engagement related to the 55th anniversary celebration.
Project Management (40%) Assist the director and associate director in defining the project scope, objectives, timelines, and budget. Support the 55th anniversary team in defining roles and meeting deadlines. Monitor and record all spending related to the 55th anniversary. Communicate with on- and off-campus partners.
All staff responsibilities (15%) Provide front desk coverage for approximately 5-6 hours per week. Support Spectrum Center tabling at outreach events 2-4 times per month according to need. Attend Spectrum Center all-staff meetings. Attend Spectrum Center programs and events Attend Spectrum Center, Student Life, and University-wide professional development opportunities.
Miscellaneous While the aforementioned duties are the priority for this position, all staff members are expected to be available and willing to perform other duties necessary to the effective functioning of the Spectrum Center as a whole. Some evening and weekend programming is required. Compensation $19.00 per hour. 15 hours per week, with some evenings and weekends required. This position is not GSSA/GSA or GEO eligible.
